This was my 2nd concert at the Giants Stadium, but my 1st experience of Tailgate Parties. Fans from the Shidoobee board and especially Stonesdoug had organised someting huge, with barbecues, drinks and music. This kind of parties is unknown to european fans because the stadium shows are general admission and because the fans only want to rush into the venues to have the best possible place, so I was really glad to live the experience and meet fans I didn't know.

Since the concert was taking place outside NYC, it started earlier than the MSG show. I went into the stadium just before 07:00 PM to see Alanis Morissette's performance. I felt a bit sad for her while she was performing in an almost empty stadium, but her set was nice and the people who were already in the stadium seemed to appreciate it.
I also could see the new stage, under daylight, and it really was impressive.
Still, what I saw then could not let me imagine how great it would look with the lighting system during the Stones' performance.

The Stones hit the stage at 8:50 PM and started the show with Start Me Up, which sounded much better than 2 days before at the Garden.

Shattered was played as the 3rd song, and it really rocked.
Ronnie played a nice solo on Rough Justice, and then it was time for the night's first suprise : Ruby Tuesday
The stage was entirely colored in purple and the performance really pleased the crowd.

Mick Jagger then confirmed that the Stones would perform during the half time of the 2006 Superbowl final, adding that he was hoping for the new yorkers that the final would be the Giants vs. the Jets.

Heartbreaker came next. I am not a big fan of the song, but the way the band played it was IMO better than the few renditions of the song we had during the Licks Tour.

Then came Night Time, the Ray Charles cover. Lisa Fischer was simply awesome on this song. Her voice is really strong and her performance is more soulfull that what she usually does on Gimme Shelter.

The sound during Infamy was not as good as 2 days before, even if the band seemed to be more into the song.
Keith played an excellent solo on Oh No Not You Again, and She's So Cold sounded better than at the Garden (maybe thanks to Ronnie)

The B-stage came back to the main stage during Honky Tonk Women, and the band arrived under a huge flowered inflattable lip and tongue logo.

The next song was Out Of Control, with Mick playing harmonica, and a great solo from Ronnie. It was nice to hear this song again after some years.

Sympathy For The Devil was great that night. In stadium shows, this song always meant great fireworks, and it is also the case on this tour.
Mick started the song in front of the screen, over Charlie's drumkit, and Keith played a great solo (don't expect something that would compare to the one he played in Atlantic City in '89, but still a very nice and inspired part).

Brow Sugar was the only little disapointment of the evening, with Keith playing an awful intro. I can't say if it is worse than the one he played at the Vredenburg show in 2003, but this one really wasn't good either.

The 1st encore was once again You Can't Always Get What You Want.
This song sems to be made for stadiums and Mick did as he was surprised by the crowd's response, saying that it was the best crowd they had so far on the tour.

It's Only Rock & Roll ended a fantastic show. The band and the audience seemed to really have had a real good time, and I came back to NYC with the satisfaction of having seen the Stones in great shape, at least as good (if not slightly better) than on the Licks Tour.

It will be hard to wait until 2006 now !
