This show was the 4th Metallica show in Paris in 2003, after the 3 clubs played in 1 day in June.

The venue was packed, and the band was greated a huge welcome.
Unlike a few weeks earlier with Marylin Manson, the organisators had a great idea and built a closed Front Of Stage area, in which they only let the first fans in. The floor was cut in 2 and the pressure from the fans against the barriers seemed more supportable.

After the classical intro, Bercy was shaken by a great version of
Battery, followed by other great classics.
I was pleased to notice that only 3 new songs were played that night.

I was standing on the left tier, and I had a good view on what going on backstage. I could see James and Roberto greeting all the staff members a few minutes before show start, and I also could see the crew leaving the sides of the backstage area before the massive explosions announcing
One.

The band was in excellent mood and shape. Roberto is definitely part of the band, and the audience cheered as he was introduced by James.
His presence on stage is great, and he obviously has a lot of fun playing in his new band.

The first encore started with
St. Anger, a song that I really like.
After playing
Enter Sandman (great version), the band left and came back for a second encore, amde of 2 killer versions of Blitzkrieg and Breadfan.

The show ended by long minutes of salute and give aways from the band to the fans : drumsticks, guitar picks, they threw away everything they had.
Lars went to do his favorite joke : sitting down on stage and spitting some orange juice in the face of the fans in the front row before giving them some drum sticks.

He finally stood up, and left the stage a while after the others did.
Right before disappearing, he took the microphone, and announced what he introduced as an early Christmas gift : a new Metallica concert in Paris : June 23 at the Parc des Princes.

This show in Bercy was so great that I'll be there for sure !!!!
