APOCALYPTICA

March 17th 2003

La Maroquinerie, Paris

Let's say it right from the beginning :
this show is one of my all times favorites !!!!

Apocalyptica is basically a band made of 4 cellos, and I would never have imagined how spectacular a cello concert can be !
That night in Paris, the band played a great 90 minutes set in front of approx. 300 people.

Apocalyptica became famous covering Metallica songs on their first album, and during the show they gave us some excellent versions of Master of Puppets, For whom the bells toll,
One, Nothing else matters, Creeping Death
and Enter Sandman.
It was fantastic to see the audience singing along during the songs.

During the second part of the show, the 4 cellos were joined in stage by a drummer, who gave to some songs an even heavier sound.

Apocalyptica's own compositions are excellent too,
and the excerpts of their latest album were great, especially
Toreador II and  Cohkka.

If the music was excellent, so was the show !
Lights, sound and effects were all really efficient.
5 minicams were posted on stage, and on some songs, the black and white images were projected on a white screen behind the stage.

I discovered Apocalyptica in 1998, but this was the 1st time I saw them live. Be sure it definitely won't be the last time !!!
