I was really looking forward to seeing AC/DC in concert again, since
their unforgettable show in Paris at the Stade de France in June 2001

The announcement of their opening for some Rolling Stones concerts in Germany this summer made me buy my ticket for the Stones' show in Hockenheim. Despite the heat, despite the early schedule, AC/DC gave their fans an extraordinary concert, almost without visual effects, in a way we aren't used to see them anymore. |
| The band hit the stage at 6:20 PM, and started the show with a lot of
energy. Since a lot of people in the audience bought their ticket after AC/DC was announced as opening act, the
response was fantastic.
Angus, Malcolm and the guys shook up the audience in a tremendous way. Angus did his usual striptease during Bad Boy Boogie , ending it showing a boxer with the AC/DC logo (no german flag this time !) This performance was their 3rd and last appearance as an opener for the Rolling Stones, and Angus and Malcolm used all the opportunities offered by the Rolling Stones' huge stage. They both went on the catwalk between both stages, and Angus even walked down to the B-Stage to play his Let there be Rock guitar solo. |

The setlist was pretty much conventional, the only "rare" song
being
Rock n'roll damnation
, but it was very efficient.
As the band played in the daylight they couldn't use the lightings and visual effects they usually put on their shows, but the traditional AC/DC bell was raised above the stage for Hell's bells , a nd 4 cannons came out of the stage's extremities and were used as usual on For those about to rock . This 90 minute-show ( twice the lenght of a regular opening act) was one of the very
rare (exactly 6) opportunities to see AC/DC live in 2003. |
