This show was the first time the Stones played at the POPB, France's biggest indoor arena, opened in 1984. Excepted the 1995 unforgettable Olympia show, the Stones hadn't played an indoor show in France since 1976.

The first 4 songs were pretty classic, but the boys took some time to get into the show. The sound also improved during the show, being a bit muddy at the beginning.
The theme of the show was the Let it Bleed album, and we saw and heard a fantastic version of Love in Vain. Ronnie played extremely well, and also spent some time turning on his stool.

Monkey man was also performed as a part of the show's theme, but I really don't like the way they play it on this tour. Monkey man loses a lot of it's dimension without the female vocals. Lisa was always good on that song, and I still am wondering why Mick decided to sing it on his own.

Keith really gave to the fans what they were hoping for : a fantastic version of the too rare Thru and Thru, and a explosive rendition of Happy.

The long songs of the set were excellent : Midnight Rambler really rocked the venue, and even the newcomers who didn't know Can't you hear me knocking loved the song.  The POPB's version was better than the one in the Olympiahalle. Bobby played an excellent sax solo, and the instrumental part in the middle really sounded jazzy.

I was standing on the left side of the B-stage and was lucky enough to get Mick's only handshake of the night. The sound on the B-stage was excellent, and therefore 1,000 times better than in the Olympiahall in Munich.
At the end of Mannish boy, I was even more happy as Ronnie gave me his guitar pick directly from hand to hand.
During the guitar solo of  You got me Rocking, Keef came to our side, went on his knees and played his part looking every one on the 1st row right into the eyes with his legendary smile.

Even if we were hoping for one more encore song, the show ended with a wonderful version of Satisfaction, always played on the silver and pink guitar offered by Billy Gibbons in Houston earlier this year.

Globally a very good 2 hr + arena show which I enjoyed more than the European Tour opening in Munich in June.
Still, I have to say that I prefered the MSG show from September 26th 2002.
