This second
show of the Paris trilogy was my 4th open air show on the european tour,
and luckily, all were played under the sun. I arrived at 7:00 PM, and luckily met the backing vocalists of the Stereophonics. They were making pictures of the stadium, and I could talk a little bit with the gorgeous black singer. She agreed that Marseille was a much better show for them than Bercy. The stadium was packed, and I never saw more people in the FOS area than here. As the show started at 9:40 PM the crowd went crazy. The public did a lot of singing on Don't stop, Angie - always a success in France - and You can't always get what you want. On Bitch, Bernard came in the center of the stage to sing with Mick, which is something I hadn't noticed since Anybody seen my baby on the Bridges to Babylon Tour. During the band introduction, Ronnie and Charlie had huge applause, and Mick walked to Charlie's place, asking in French if Charlie wanted to say something, but Charlie just laughed and refused to take the microphone mick was handing to him. Keith gave us one more Slipping away and a good Before they make me run. The B-stage performance reminded me my Giants Stadium show in September 2002, with a great and pretty original rendition of Miss You, followed by Little Red Rooster, introduced by Mick as a blues song they haven't played for a while. I really love the way they start playing Gimme shelter as the band comes back from the B-stage. Lisa sings smoothly at the beginning, and makes a more nervous part in the middle of the song. She did as good as usual, and this song always gives me a lot of emotion. On Honky Tonk Women, Lisa came dancing to the left side of the stage, and lost her shoe and fell. As she sat down, Mick went on his knees and helped her putting on her shoe again. The rest of
the show was a classical and efficient ending. |
